Today the dating men of our time are much freer than back in my grandm

Today the dating men of our time are much freer than back in my grandmother's day of dating. Back in those days dating men first had to talk to her father/or male guardian and explain his intentions and then after convincing her father she might be asked to go sit in church together, go have tea at your aunts home or something along those lines. The couple was never left alone. Dating men were expected to put his lady first by opening doors and she was expected to give the dating men the courtesy to wait for him to open that door.
This cuddle in public exhibition we see today was unheard of just a few decades ago. I think there are limits to what is decent in public and the younger generation is showing more and more PDA (Public Display of Affection) as my daughter calls it, and it makes some people of my generation very uncomfortable.
The movies captured a fling as being done in a dive or bar, far off the main street of any community. The fling is referred to in my generation as an extra marital affair. A person slipping around on their spouses is what I would see as a fling. Who knows what today’s generation believes that to mean. Things change so fast in today’s society, most of the time I just sit back and listen and watch it all unfold. I can just imagine how thrown my own grandmother must have been in watching her grandchildren’s way of dating yesterday and how I will look on such things when my grandchildren are here and dating.
I hope with these changes we develop a way of treating each other with kindness and understanding. The generation my grandmother grew up with wasn’t as tolerant as society is today. I can only hope that with what I have seen as some shocking changes, this tolerance continues as I think it has been from generation to generation.
I was seated behind an adorable young couple in a movie theater the other night who were respectful of other’s around them and then again, I have seen in places like a fun park, young couples practically unclothed in broad daylight going at each other. Totally oblivious to what is going on around them. Police patrol breaking them up telling them this isn’t the place for that and it didn’t faze them what so ever. As soon as the officer was out of sight they were back in each other’s arms again.
I suppose like everything else in life if you live long enough you will see just about anything you can imagine. I just hope the next generation learns early to respect each other and others around them.
